Tania's book review on Roald Dahl's Matilda

Hello everyone! welcome to another book review. Today I am reviewing a book called Mathilda by Roald Dahl. Does that name ring a bell? It should. Because Roald Dahl is called the world’s number 1 storyteller. He wrote a lot of books like the BFG, Billy and the Minpins, Charlie and the chocolate factory, and others that include Mathilda. You were probably expecting another three investigators review or a writing challenge which I am sure you have lost interest with. That’s why I wanted to do something new today. Now, without further ado, let’s get on with the book review.

Mathilda has been one of my most favourite books since I was very young. Dad and I would sit (or lie down) together and take turns reading a page. Even though I am growing up, I still read it sometimes and dad and I still read together. This book is about a little girl called Mathilda whose parents are very mean to her and watches the television every night. Her dad gets money by having unfair deals in a second hand car shop, her mother goes to play bingo every afternoon, and her older brother goes to school. Leaving Matilda by herself. Which she liked because then she was able to do anything she wanted. One afternoon, because she liked reading, she decided to go to the nearby library and stop there to read. In a few days, Matilda had finished all the children’s books at the library. After explaining to the librarian that she not only looked at the pictures of the books but read the books too, the librarian offered to help her find a new book to read. Within a week Matilda had finished a lot of grown up books that children her age would have difficulty reading (mind you she was still 4 at that time). Going to the library became a habit that continued until she was five and a half. This is when she started to go to school. She was very excited about this, because she loved to learn. Sadly, the headmistress was not a kindly woman. She was in three words, a human monster. But her teacher, Miss Honey was absolutely perfect. kind, loving, gentle, beautiful, caring, those were the words that described miss honey. Unsurprisingly, Matilda was smarter than everyone in her class. But the surprising was, that the effect of being told off by absolutely no reason she could see, made her brain bubble and boil with hatred and anger. Also, being stuck in a class that taught her nothing, made her brain not be able to struggle. So, as a result Matilda had the power of telekinesis which means she can move things with her mind. (I am sorry but I can’t tell you what happens next cause it’s where the plot twists come in.) but in the end everything is fine.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Remarkable! This is a wonderful book and yet it is very simple and easy to read! I recommend this to readers who want justice to triumph over evil but in a book that is easy to read. Trust me, they don’t want to miss out on this!

After that enjoyable meeting with the brilliant Matilda now comes a less enjoyable part: saying a goodbye. But don’t worry! We will cross paths again soon. But for now, goodbye!

  1. I can remember you reading this book with daddy and then by yourself over and over again. I think this is one of your 'forever' favorite. And you are a bit like Mathilda when it comes to book.
I hope instead of Telekinisis you will have kindness as your superpower.
    Love, Mommy
