Hello Reader. This is the last chapter of this story if you don't count the epilogue. I congratulate you and thank you for reading my story this far. I also apologize that I am posting so Late. I had a test week for my school and couldn't write for some time. I hope you are enjoying this story that I have made. Oh yes, also, disclaimer, This will be quite a long chapter, especially because I divided it into paragraphs. I apologize for that too. Now, Let's Begin.
Lucinda had just gone out of the wall. She was still a little stunned at how bright it was. Suddenly someone or something was sprinting towards her at top speed. Lucinda had no time to run or react or even think before it reached her.
It turned out that it was Amy. And Amy had wanted to give her a bear hug. Lucinda as still a bit shocked but eventually she hugged Amy back. It was quite a while before Amy let go.
Afterwards Lucinda said “Where are we?”
And Amy replied saying “Why, we are in Bonnie’s world of course! Come on! I’ll show you around!”
Amy showed Lucinda the rolling hills, the fields, the trees, the little thatched hut that they lived in, Everything!
*
“But…” Began Lucinda “How did you get here?” It was later. After the tour. And the girls were sitting on a low branch of a tree.
“Well, I noticed the strange goings on and I saw how wrong everything was” Said Amy a tad sorrowfully “So I went to Mallie and told her that I wanted to go and she let me go. I tried to say goodbye to you but you wouldn’t wake up. And Mallie told me to hurry”
“Mallie let you go just like that?” Asked Lucinda.
“Yeah why?” Said Amy.
Lucinda told Amy all about how she had tried to go over the wall and how Mallie didn’t let her go.
“Oh. That must be because you didn’t ask PERMISSION!” Said Amy in a matter-of-fact way.
Lucinda opened her mouth to reply but just then...
“Hello Girls! It appears that Another one of you has come to stay with us!” A shrill trilling voice came floating towards them.
It was Bonnie. With her red hair done up in a bun, wearing a short, black cap and wearing a pale pink shirt with mint green trousers. She was sweating, but her green eyes twinkled as bright as ever.
Amy smiled, But Lucinda grew as red as Bonnie’s hair and hid behind some leaves. “I’m sorry I was selfish and picked the wrong world.” Muttered Lucinda
“It’s ok. At least you wanted to come here in the end,” said Bonnie. Giving Lucinda a smile. Lucinda mumbled something inaudible. “What did you say?” asked Bonnie. Unfolding her hands from her chest and putting one behind her ears and leaning closer. \
“I said, But I didn’t come here because of good! I only came to find her!” said Lucinda pointing her finger at Amy like a rapier. her voice growing louder with every word she said.
Amy looked startled at the suddenness of being pointed at. Bonnie however, looked perfectly calm.
“Do you think what they do in Mallie’s world is good?” asked Bonnie slowly. “no” said Lucinda, calming down.
“What is wrong with it?” asked Bonnie “Well... They are lazy, some got stomach-ache from eating sweets to much, and you never eat vegetables there.” Said Lucinda, a bit unsure with her answer.
Bonnie smiled “Right. You know what is wrong, you made friends, you risked getting severely punished going over the wall to save said friend, and was brave enough to admit you were wrong. Sounds pretty good to me!” “But...,” said Lucinda. “Good deeds make up for the wrong ones Lucinda” said Bonnie with a wide grin.
Lucinda smiled meekly but cheered up considerably. Bonnie smiled and offered to teach Lucinda how to work in the fields considering that Lucinda would stay there for quite a long time. Soon, Lucinda learned to plough the fields, plant seeds, water plants, and a lot of other things. And when the sun went down, they all had supper together and swapped stories on what happened in the day. They were also allowed to have a short break during the daytime to have some tea and relax. Before going back to work again.
The first week there Lucinda felt a day went on for eternity. But soon the days started flying away and in no time, Lucinda was called to Bonnie’s office. Lucinda sat down on a fluffy purple pouffe and looked up at Bonnie who was sitting in a green high backed chair.
“Well Lucinda,” said Bonnie in a solemn voice. “It’s almost time for you to go back home. Don’t be sad! You will be going back at the same time as Amy. But of course, you won’t be going to the same place.” Lucinda felt sad. But knew she couldn’t stay here forever. “Ok” said Lucinda “Thank you for teaching me morals and stuff. I will always remember this place.”
Bonnie looked as if she would burst into tears. “You won’t be able to remember this place Lucinda” said Bonnie in a wobbly voice. “What? Not remember you? Or anyone?” Gasped Lucinda Barely believing her ears. “No I’m afraid” said Bonnie “Once you get back home, all the memories you had here will be gone.”
“Well” said Lucinda “even though I don’t like this at all, I’m going to ok. When do I leave?” “Today” said Bonnie “at six o’clock in the afternoon.” Lucinda nodded quietly.
And at 5:57 that day. Amy and Lucinda held hands as they followed Bonnie through a forest that was near their hut. After about a minute of walking, they found an even smaller cottage striped red, yellow, green and blue. Bonnie opened the door and, in front of them, a few steps away from the doorstep, was a big hole.
Though it was a black hole, it didn’t seem scary as something seemed to be glittering down at the depths the glittering thing displayed colorful spots of light around the room. They were so bright in fact, that Lucinda shielded her eyes when she came in for fear of being blinded.
“That’s the way You’ll go” said Bonnie “You jump in there when it’s time”
just then, there was a soft fluttering noise behind them. Lucinda and Amy turned around to see what it was. It was Mallie.
Her blond hair had been braided at the front and pulled back. She wore a nice flowy dress of a calm red with brown fastenings and hood. She had come to say goodbye.
It was now 5:59 and they had one minute to say goodbye. Lucinda and Amy thanked Bonnie and Mallie for their help and hoped that they would meet again. Perhaps in another lifetime, But still. Then Amy and Lucinda bade farewell to each other. “I hope we will meet in our world Amy” said Lucinda. “And I hope you will be as nice as you were here when we do meet” said Amy. And Lucinda and Amy shook hands.
And, as if on cue, the carriage clock on the wall of the cottage showed 6:00 and Bonnie started to say some magic words “Iter itio, abis ibas, ego te sic desideroa. Mallie gestured for them to Jump. And Lucinda and Amy Jumped at the same time.
For a split second Lucinda saw Mallie and Bonnie wave at them, Then at the next millisecond, she felt herself fall at terrific speed, and everything went black.
*
The next thing Lucinda knew, she was in bed at her home. And Sage was shaking her gently.
“Lucinda” said Sage in a timid, yet urgent voice “It’s 6:00 already and Mom says Breakfast was ready. Dad says we should finish our breakfast quickly or we’ll be late to school.”
Lucinda opened her eyes wide and looked at the clock. It was indeed 6:00 in the morning. She got out of bed, Thanked Sage for waking her up, and she and Sage went downstairs for their breakfast.
“Hello Honey” said Lucinda’s mom, addressing Lucinda “Would you like me to make your favorite? Cheese sandwich with extra cheese, extra lettuce, some Mayonnaise, and Cucumber sticks on the side?”
Lucinda looked over at Sage, who was in the middle of drowning her oatmeal in milk. Lucinda looked back at her mom and said “No thanks mom. I’ll just have oatmeal like Sage.”
“Oh ok then” said Lucinda’s mom in a shocked voice. Lucinda never ate anything as cheap as oatmeal. She thought she was above that sort of thing. And certainly she never asked that nicely.
After breakfast, Lucinda went to her school. While there, she noticed that the school fee’s were high. And her classmates were snobby and acted high and mighty. And the lessons were more about having airs and graces then anything else.
So when they got home, Lucinda said, “Mom, Dad, Can I please go to another school? This school doesn’t fit me, and I think it’s too expensive.”
“Oh yes of course said Lucinda’s dad “Which school do you want to go to?” “The same one as sage.” Said Lucinda. And that’s what happened.
A few months after Lucinda had moved to Sage’s school, a new student came and was ordered to sit next to Lucinda.
The new girl shook Lucinda’s hand energetically and said “My name is Amy. What’s yours?”
“Lucinda” said
Lucinda. “There’s something vaguely familiar about you”
